Marlborough Avenue
‘Much as we wanted to share our plans and Brands for Marlborough Avenue, we were sworn to secrecy! I am now delighted to announce that Crew Clothing will be moving to occupy one of the new retail stores. The Cornish Bakery will be introducing their new concept cafe and Cornish Tapas restaurant across two floors, completing the row on the right side as you leave the tunnel. On the left-hand side, Marks & Spencer’s will remain in a larger, enhanced store, serving as a robust anchor for arriving Guests.
The development works are scheduled to start really soon! Hoarding will be installed on the right side as you enter from the tunnel, starting Tuesday, 27th May. The Cornish Bakery will close in its current location on 26th May, and the following week, the Guest toilets will also be closed.
We recognise that this may present challenges and inconvenience; however, the long-term advantages will contribute to attracting more high-spending visitors to Gunwharf Quays in the future.
Please also note: COSTA Coffee will be closed and having a refresh 12th-17th June; this will include internal and external works, mostly decorative. This will create minimal impact and noise and will be in normal working hours – just as a heads up!
Summer of Sailing in Portsmouth
We will have a very busy summer in Portsmouth and at Gunwharf Quays, with no less than three sailing events taking place in July and August.
We will be kicking off with SailGP’s fast and furious racing finally returning to UK waters between 14th July and the 20th July.
Next up, we have the Volvo Race Europe, taking place between the 14th and 17th August. Based in Gunwharf Quays, the racecourse will stretch from the Baltic Sea, through the North Sea and English Channel, into the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean before a finish in Boka Bay, Montenegro – the first time the Ocean Race will compete in the Adriatic Sea.
Finally, the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race returns to Gunwharf Quays! The event will take place from the 28th to 31st August and will be celebrating 25 years since the first departure from Portsmouth, as well as 30 years of training people to cross oceans and sail around the World.
